Yuri & Svetlana: A Wedding in Turkey

Yuri and Svetlana celebrated their wedding in Belek, Turkey, in 2019. Around 150 guests travelled from a dozen countries. Anton photographed from the morning until late at night, documenting a celebration that brought together family and friends from different places.

Planning a wedding in Belek

For a wedding at a hotel or resort, ask the coordinator to walk through the route from the preparation rooms to the ceremony and dinner spaces. Being at one property does not automatically mean every transition is short. Include time for guests to assemble and for the couple to move between spaces without rushing.

If you want portraits near the water, confirm the route and access with your own venue. Ask where a sheltered or indoor alternative could work, and check the light at the proposed time rather than relying only on a venue’s promotional photographs.

A guest list travelling from different countries

Keep key instructions about the ceremony and group photographs easy to understand, and agree who will help gather each family. Share the final timeline with the photographer and coordinator, including any translated speeches or separate parts of the celebration that need coverage.

For a future destination booking, agree an arrival buffer with travelling suppliers. A schedule should leave room for travel disruption and preparation, rather than depending on a flight arriving immediately before the wedding.
